Lauren + Scott
OH MY — is all I can say about Lauren + Scott start things off! Our first meeting was downtown Detroit, at an embarrassingly busy bar for a Monday night in February. Being my meeting place suggestion, I felt terrible that our first interactions were drowned out by loud music and random chatter, as we were sandwiched between random bar goers in a crowded place. Lauren + Scott didn’t seem to mind and were just so excited to meet in person and chat about what details they knew of their wedding so far.
When the big day finally arrived in early September, we started off at Greektown’s Atheneum Suite Hotel. Lauren and the ladies were chilling out in an amazing suite with a gorgeous view. Champagne was flowing, gourmet sandwiches on the table, and a genuine mixture of excitement and nerves in the air. Scott and the guys were bustling around the hotel making sure everything was going to be perfect for the rest of the day. Being the place where Lauren + Scott’s relationship began, these Vintage Detroit Map Cufflinks had a special meaning.
Lauren + Scott opted to go for a first look before the ceremony, which was planned for the Greektown’s Atheneum Suite Hotel rooftop. With a bit of coordination, minor injuries endured by our super lengthy groom, and help from Lauren’s sister, we were able to get everyone into place for Scott to lay his eyes on his bride for the first time of the day. Afterwards, of course we invited the whole bridal party up to the rooftop for a few quick photos!
Throughout the month leading up to their wedding, Lauren + Scott planned an exciting timeline, which included a bus tour of downtown Detroit for the wedding party portraits. We stopped at Comerica Park [being the sports fans they are!], Michigan Central Train Station, the Kales Building and the infamous Illuminated Mural by Katie Craig in Detroit’s Northend.
After our super successful adventures traveling throughout the city of Detroit for the bridal party portraits, we ended up back at Greektown’s Atheneum Suite Hotel for a couple more street candids, before we headed back inside prior to their ceremony in The Ballroom. Portable fans and champagne in hand to battle the heat!
The Ballroom, showcasing art deco architecture, gold detailing, and plenty of natural light, was the perfect backdrop for their short and sweet, non denominational ceremony. The rings were exchange, the first kiss took place, and the happy couple recessed down the aisle.
